Presenter David McGowan will share the history of SA’s bushfires and the SA Country Fire Service, changes in how we fight bushfires and the relevance of bushfire information to the western suburbs in his informative talk on the anniversary of Ash Wednesday.

David McGowan is a retired Fire Engineer with extensive firefighting experience in the SA Country Fire Service. He led the CFS Brigade into both the 1981 and the 1983 Ash Wednesday Bushfires. He was also a lecturer in fire behaviour for TAFE.
